Day Sleeper Peace Keeper was born out of a Voice Memo of a sparkly guitar riff that Pat recorded during his days avoiding customers as a Guitar Center employee back in 2012. He stumbled across the recording on his phone the same day that he bought his Nord Lead 2X. The combination of the chopped guitar riff and atmospheric chord progression was the first thing that he did with the new synth, earning the demo the title “Ambient
Jam.” The direction of the song came into focus with the addition of vocal and melodic samples from ‘Shamansong,’ the 1998 composition by composer and vocal virtuoso Joan LaBarbara. The title was taken from a painting of the same name by the Netherlands abstract painter Diana Roig.
